Discount Transportable Mobility Scooters Q & A
What makes transport scooters different?
Of course, EVERY mobility scooter can be transported, one way or another! Though, we designate certain models as a "transport" scooter based on a few key features. These scooters are designed specifically to be more easily disassembled (partially), folded or made more compact. Usually, the main features are that the tiller (where the controls are) and the seat will be able to fold down. Sometimes, the scooter can readily be detached into different parts.
How can one help me?
If you want to put your new mobility scooter in the back of your SUV, for example, having a transport model will make that much easier. You can save big on storage space. Also, lifting individual components separately is easier than lifting the whole assembly at once! Checking in your scooter at an airport is also a little easier.
Mobility scooters for medical use are allowed on flights in any case, though easy disassembly can make loading your scooter easier and faster for the crew. Also, you don't have to transport the scooter to take advantage of the compact design. They are also great for storing in your home, often in the garage or even a closet. Then, when you're ready to go again, your scooter is ready to go.
How do you disassemble (or re-assemble) the scooter?
Often, there are no special tools or equipment required to make the switch! Following the manual or instructional video (which we have right here on our site, by the way), you can get the hang of it fast.
